Finding the best compromise between design quality and testing eort during refactoring

Anti-patterns are poor design choices that hinder code evolution, and understandability. Practitioners perform refactoring, that are semantic-preserving-code transformations, to correct anti-patterns and to improve design quality. However, manual refactoring is a consuming task and a heavy burden for developers who have to struggle to complete their coding tasks and maintain the design quality of the system at the same time. For that reason, researchers and practitioners have proposed several approaches to bring automated support to developers, with solutions that ranges from single anti-patterns correction, to multiobjective solutions. The latter approaches attempted to reduce refactoring effort, or to improve semantic similarity between classes and methods in addition to removing anti-patterns. To the best of our knowledge, none of the previous approaches have considered t...

The aim of the study was to identify the best-performing regression model for estimating the solar radiation component in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, a region characterised by high levels of sunshine. Of the four models evaluated, the Bristow Campbell model emerged as the optimal choice, outperforming the others in terms of accuracy. The importance of this research lies in the need to select a regression model adapted to the specific climatic conditions of the region, thus contributing to more accurate energy planning and sustainable use of solar energy. The evaluation of the models was based on metrics such as RMSE, MBE, t-statistic, R2, and the d metric, reinforced by detailed graphical visualisations and correlations between the models and real data. The results clearly demonstrated the performance of the Bristow Campbell model, underlining its reliability and efficiency i...

Gender gap in science in Africa: experience of African women in mathematics association
Marie Françoise Ouedraogo, Selma Negzaoui, Sophie Dabo-Niang
This paper deals with gender gap in Mathematics across Africa. Reducing the gender gap in
Mathematics in Africa, is the major aim of African Women in Mathematics Association (AWMA) through
various activities. Using macrodata from two international surveys and microdata from two African univer-
sities (Joseph Ki-Zerbo of Burkina Faso and Monastir in Tunisia), differences in favor to men in the participation
of female teachers and teacher-researchers in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Sciences are
highlighted. Some practices, considered by AWMA, aiming to reduce the Gender Gap are also evoked

Introduction: National guidelines for best transfusion practices have been disseminated so that their recommendations can be applied to any health facility. This work was part of the approach to promoting transfusion safety. Its objective was to study the knowledge and attitudes of the clinical healthcare professionals in the Yalgado Ouédraogo University Hospital in the field of blood transfusion.
Materials and methods: The survey-type study was conducted in four clinical departments of the Yalgado Ouédraogo University Hospital Center based on a questionnaire. It involved professionals practicing blood transfusion. The anonymous questionnaire was filled out by the participants themselves. There were multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions.
Results: The participation rate was 64% (192/300). The respondents had an average of 7years of professional practice and...

Introduction: Kidney transplantation is the best treatment for CKD stage 5. The current context in Burkina Faso only allows for living kidney donation. The main of our study was to investigate the acceptance of the principle and willingness of living kidney donation among relatives of patients undergoing hemodialysis in Burkina Faso.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey from December 7, 2022, to January 20, 2023, among first- and second-degree relatives and spouses of patients undergoing hemodialysis in Burkina Faso. Data were analyzed with STATA software. We performed a simple logistic regression to search for factors associated with the dependent’s variables. The odds ratios (OR) with their 95% confidence intervals were calculated and assessed using the Wald test. The significance threshold was set at 0.20. Significance variables were used for multiple logistic r...
