Résumé

Burkina Faso is a West African landlocked Sahelian country. It has a surface area of 274,222 km2 and, in 2015, had a population of 18.4 million with a 3.1 % annual population growth [1]. In 2012 the rural population made up 72 % of the total population. In rural areas, the majority of the population (about 90 %) still relies on traditional biomass (firewood and charcoal) as their main energy source.
