Résumé

The drought of the 1970 s led to a proliferation of hydro-agriculturalschemes in West African countries to combat water stress. BurkinaFaso is no exception. This study is based on the econometric method, using the cross-sectional hypothesis that there is a correlation betweencropping systems and productivity in the Pensa hydro-agriculturalperimeter. Its aim is to analyse the correlation between croppingsystems in the developed perimeter and productivity in the ruralcommune of Pensa. Carried out in the rural commune of Pensa, thesurveys collected quantitative and qualitative information from 188people (182 producers and 6 resource persons). The data collected wereprocessed using a logit model. The research results indicate thatmonoculture and polyculture are the two cropping systems developedin the Pensa hydro-agricultural perimeter. The waiting period for theuse of phytosanitary products is 5,25 days for monoculture, comparedwith a waiting period of 5.35 days for polyculture. The farm accountsshow that growing Vigna unguiculata (cowpea) is more profitable inthe monoculture system (675,9 F CFA/kg). In the mixed croppingsystem, the production of Allium cepa L (onion) is more profitable(525 F CFA/kg). The coefficient of determination between croppingsystems and productivity was 0,8106
