Résumé

Mung bean is a legume widely cultivated in subtropical and tropical regions of the world. Its
introduction in Burkina Faso is of great interest for the food and nutritional security of the
population. However, the development of its cultivation could be hampered by a number of biotic
constraints, including fungal diseases caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid. To this
end, 23 mung bean genotypes were screened in greenhouse with the most pathogenic isolate of the
M. phaseolina fungus. Classification of genotypes according to recorded severity scores revealed
three categories namely moderately resistant, susceptible and highly susceptible genotypes. No
genotype proved resistant to the Sahelian isolate of M. phaseolina. However, two genotypes, M14
and lM2 showed moderate resistance to the Sahelian isolate of M. phaseolina. The results of this
study could help in mung bean productivity program in Burkina Faso et in in drought-prone regions
in the world.
