potato is a market garden crop that contributes to the diversification of the production
of family farmers in the commune of Ouahigouya. The objective of this article is to unveil the
contribution of potato to poverty reduction among direct actors in the sector. To achieve this, a
systemic approach combining the use of primary and secondary data was adopted. It focused on
the monetary and food poverty of actors in potato production and marketing. The results indicate
that whatever the type of producer in the analysis sample, the profit earned is greater than
1,500,000 FCFA. Income from the sale of potatoes by traders ranged from 50,000 FCFA to 1,035,000
FCFA. The investigations carried out show that the potato is an important lever for poverty
reduction. It provides substantial income to the direct actors, contributing to their economic and
social well-being
