L'utilisation abusive des antibiotiques en santé humaine, animale et dans l'agriculture a entraîné une forte pression de sélection conduisant à l’émergence de souches bactériennes multirésistantesaux antibiotiques conventionnels; en moyenne une décennie après leur introduction. Le contexte particulier des pays en développement comme le Burkina Faso contribue à exacerber la problématique de l'antibiorésistance. Une alternative à l’antibiothérapie, notamment pour les cas d’échec thérapeutiques, consisterait à réduire la virulence et la formation du biofilm des bactéries sans pour autant chercher à les détruire ou à inhiber leur croissance.A la différence des antibiotiques classiques qui ciblent des processus du métabolisme de base, l’inhibition du QS offre une alternative prometteuse pour atténuer ou mettre sous silence la pathogénicité sans exercer une pression sélective qui va induire une résistance multiple aux médicaments en cas d’exposition répétée. Ainsi Nos travaux de recherche nous ont permis d’évaluer le potentiel antiquorum sensing des extraits des différentes parties de plantes utilisées en médecine traditionelle contre les maladies infectieuses
