Analyse des communautés procaryotes dans les lacs Nyos et Monoun

Dans cette thématique, les travaux ont porté sur l’étude de la composition des communautés bactériennes et archéennes dans deux lacs atypiques (les lacs Nyos et Monoun au Cameroun), ainsi que sur l'identification d'indicateurs biologiques de pollution des sources d'eau souterraines à proximité des deux lacs. En effet, Les écosystèmes intrigants des lacs Nyos et Monoun sont surveillés depuis environ trois décennies après leurs explosions dans les années 1984 et 1986, respectivement. Cependant, la composition de leurs communautés microbiennes n’avait jamais été étudiée, malgré le rôle important que jouent les procaryotes dans les cycles trophiques lacustres. De même, la qualité microbienne des eaux souterraines, qui est une denrée très importante pour les personnes vivant à proximité des deux lacs n’avait pas encore été évaluée. C’est dans le but de contribuer à la compréhension de la biogéochimie des lacs et à la prise de conscience des enjeux généraux liés à la qualité de l'eau que ces travaux ont été menés. Ces travaux ont fait l’objet de 4 publications
