Modélisation des propriétés structurales, élastiques, électroniques et magnétiques des matériaux des oxydes pérovskites à base de manganèse du type RMnO3

Les oxydes pérovskites à base de manganèse du type RMnO3 reconnues comme matériaux multiferroïques ont suscité un intérêt technologique car ils présentent au moins deux ordres ferroïques ((anti)ferroélectricité, (anti)ferromagnétisme, ferroélasticité, ferrotoroïdicité) au sein d’une seule et même phase offrant la possibilité d'un contrôle de la polarisation électrique sous un champ magnétique appliqué élevé, ou vice versa. Les applications technologiques possibles sont entre autres l’enregistrement magnétique à très haute densité, les capteurs magnétorésistifs, la réfrigération magnétique, etc.
Les travaux relatifs à cette thématique ont été menés dans le but d'enrichir les connaissances existantes sur les oxydes RMnO3 en général et de combler certaines lacunes dans la littérature, notamment pour ce qui concerne les oxydes RMnO3 avec R=Y, Ho et Er qui peuvent exister sous la phase hexagonale ou orthorhombique.
Comme résultats, les propriétés structurales, élastiques, électroniques et magnétiques des matériaux obtenus à l’aide d’un code DFT, notamment le code Quantum Espresso, sont disponibles.
