West Africa has experienced many crises, especially since independence. Newspapers recorded some of them. So did writers, but not in the same way as journalists. The objective of this paper is to explore the contribution of Ken Saro￾Wiwa’s Sozaboy, Benjamin Kwakye’s The Clothes of Nakedness and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus in the management of social, moral and political crises. Using text-oriented approaches, namely new criticism, coupled at times with author-oriented approaches which establishes a link between the literary text and the biography of the author, emphasis will be placed on the literary devices that Saro￾Wiwa, Kwakye and Adichie used to fight against conflicts and the lessons readers can draw from these various works to improve their daily lives in situation of conflict.
