Faced with the risk of disappearance of certain plant species linked to the combined actions of man and the climate, it is recognized that the preservation of tropical biodiversity constitutes a major challenge. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, currently some species from tropical Africa such as the species Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn could be threatened with extinction. In this context, the present research carried out in the West of Burkina Faso aims to analyze the modalities of a sustainable management of Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn through an improvement of knowledge on the species. The work of collecting both qualitative and quantitative data highlights, on the one hand, the spatial analysis of the population and the dendrometric characteristics of the species. This research on the other hand, highlights the state of regeneration of ceiba pentandra (l.) gaertn and local management strategies which don't guarantee the sustainability of this resource.
RESUMÉ
Face aux risques de disparition de certaines espèces végétales liés aux actions combinées de l’homme et du climat il est reconnu que la préservation de la biodiversité tropicale constitue un défi majeur. Selon l’Union internationale de conservation de la nature, actuellement certaines espèces d’Afrique tropicale comme l’espèce Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn pourraient être menacées d’extinction. Dans ce contexte, la présente recherche réalisée dans l’Ouest du Burkina Faso vise à analyser les modalités d’une gestion durable de Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn à travers une amélioration des connaissances sur l’espèce. Les travaux de collectes de données à la fois qualitatif et quantitatif mettent en évidence d’une part, l’analyse spatiale du peuplement et des caractéristiques dendrométriques de l’espèce. Cette recherche d’autre part, met en exergue l’état de la régénération de ceiba pentandra (l.) gaertn et des stratégies locales de gestion qui ne garantissent pas une pérennisation de cette ressource.
